The main purpose of the role is to manage the corporate accounting activities of the company, including the accounting close and consolidation process and external reporting. Establish and maintain accounting policies and procedures; elaborate the VAT and Corporate tax reports; manage the annual external audit, provide guidance regarding complex accounting issues, new accounting pronouncements and regulations and effectively manage significant interaction and communication with other corporate functions. Main responsibilities: Accountable for developing, implementing and maintaining processes and procedures for accurate and timely analysis of financial data, ensuring best practices. Oversees the performance of the accounting team to ensure the successful and timely completion of the month-end close process for the organization. Creates opportunities to improve on reporting related matters, including efficiency efforts. Review financial statements to ensure transactions and consolidations are reflected in accordance with IFRS. Perform balance sheet and income statement analytics. Monitor and analyze the intercompany balances, and follows through to resolve issues. Coordinate preparation of monthly reconciliations, corporate reporting schedules, and VAT tax reports. Oversees bank reconciliations. Determines how the company should adopt new accounting rules and model any potential retroactive or future changes into the financial statements. Works closely across all functions of finance as well as other organizations to discuss implications of potential transactions or situations on financial statements. Works to enhance the internal controls over accounting processes and systems. Evaluates opportunities for process improvement in compliance with corporate policies and work with the respective functional areas to drive these enhancements.
Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
5+ years of experience in accounting management, ideally in Audit Manager with Big 4 firm, and 2+ years private sector experience within a large multinational company.
Deep knowledge of implementing and manage ERPs, ideally A3.
Extensive knowledge of IFRS. Must have strong technical accounting skills and up-to-date knowledge of the latest accounting standards.
Strong interpersonal, analytical and communication skills necessary.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate with all levels of personnel in a large organization.
Excellent organizational skills.
Must have the ability to work independently and be resourceful.
Deadline-oriented and ability to multi-task.
Experience with Global, Shared Service, Divisional and/or Corporate experience preferred.
Experience in team management & strong team building skills.
Advanced Excel Knowledge.
Able to work in a fast-paced environment and instill a sense of urgency.
Proven record of process improvement and streamlining functions.
Fluent in English and Spanish (written and verbal).
Deep knowledge of the VAT regulation and the Corporate tax in Spain.
