Head of Energy Portfolio (Middle Office, BESS)

🔧 Key Responsibilities

Energy Markets & Portfolio Management

• Lead the optimization of the company’s renewable asset portfolio (solar & wind) in Spain and across Europe.
• Monitor merchant exposure and develop strategies to maximize revenue capture while managing risk.
• Analyze market fundamentals, price curves, forward structures and regulatory impacts to support strategic decision-making.

Hedging Strategy & Risk Management

• Define and execute hedging strategies using financial and physical instruments (forwards, futures, swaps, options).
• Develop and track hedge effectiveness KPIs and risk exposure metrics (market risk, merchant risk, FX/IR/CPI sensitivities).
• Work closely with Risk, Trading, and Finance to align coverage strategies with corporate risk appetite.

PPAs & Revenue Strategy

• Support pricing, modelling and evaluation of PPAs (corporate and utility), including complex structured products.
• Provide market intelligence and scenario simulations to guide revenue strategy and commercial negotiations.
• Coordinate with Originators and Senior Management to influence long-term contracting strategy.

Middle Office Excellence

• Oversee the validation, analysis and reporting of energy positions, exposures and settlements.
• Ensure data quality and accuracy in revenue forecasting, pricing models and portfolio reports.
• Act as a key point of contact for internal controls, compliance and audit requirements related to market activities.

Cross-Functional Leadership

• Collaborate with Finance, Asset Management, Risk, Trading, and the Commercial/Revenue teams.
• Present market insights, revenue performance and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of pricing tools, analytics, and market intelligence capabilities.
