Database Lead – (6-12 month contract)

This role is ideal for an experienced DBA or Database Operations specialist who thrives in production support environments and enjoys working across performance tuning, incident management, backup/recovery, platform optimisation, and operational improvement initiatives.

🔹 Key Responsibilities
• Administer and support critical production and non-production database environments
• Monitor database health, troubleshoot incidents, and drive root cause resolution
• Optimise performance through query tuning, indexing, and capacity management
• Own backup, restore, and disaster recovery processes and testing
• Support releases, schema changes, upgrades, migrations, and patching activities
• Manage database security, permissions, and operational controls
• Work closely with infrastructure, engineering, analytics, and security teams

🛠 Technology Environment
• Databricks, Delta Lake, Spark, and NoSQL technologies
• Azure & GCP cloud platforms
• PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, and SQL Server
• Git, CI/CD frameworks, Terraform
• SQL, Bash, and Python scripting

✅ What We’re Looking For
• Strong hands-on database administration experience across enterprise environments
• Deep understanding of SQL, indexing, query optimisation, and performance troubleshooting
• Experience with backup/recovery, patching, upgrades, and operational change management
• Strong incident management and root cause analysis capability
• Experience managing database security, permissions, and audit controls
• Exposure to both cloud and on-prem database platforms
• A calm, structured, and ownership-driven approach in operational environments
