Procurement Manager
A leading industrial company based in Gipuzkoa (Lazkao), specialized in forging and part of a global manufacturing group, is seeking a Procurement Manager. The role sits within a highly international environment, supplying critical components to sectors such as oil & gas, wind energy, mining, and maritime industries. The position reports directly to the local Operations Director, with a functional reporting line to Corporate Procurement, reflecting both local responsibility and alignment with global strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the procurement team and collaborate cross-functionally (2 people).
- Negotiate complex contracts and manage supplier relationships.
- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks.
- Offering operational support to the team when necessary.
- Improve purchasing costs, product quality, and on-time delivery.
- Defining short-, medium-, and long-term plans, projects, and objectives in line with the company and corporate strategy.
- Monitor KPIs and report to local and corporate management.
- Drive continuous improvement and investment initiatives.
- Act as a key decision-maker and participate in business visits (travel required).
Candidate Profile
- Experience At least 10 years in procurement, ideally within industrial or metal-related environments; prior experience in a managerial role is highly valued.
- Technical Background: Degree in Engineering (Industrial Organization or similar preferred).
- Procurement Expertise: Strong background in strategic procurement, supplier management, and negotiation.
- Languages & Tools: High level of English is mandatory; knowledge of SAP is a plus.
- Additional Knowledge (Nice to Have): MBA or equivalent management training, and familiarity with metallurgy or the iron & steel sector.
