Senior Databricks Architect / Specialist (CONTRACT)

We are seeking a hands-on Senior Databricks Architect to design, build, and optimise scalable lakehouse solutions supporting analytics, engineering, and AI workloads. This role combines architecture leadership with hands-on delivery, including pipeline design, platform configuration, performance optimisation, troubleshooting, and engineering standards. Need a candidate will bring strong technical depth and the ability to deliver secure, scalable, and cost-effective data platform solutions

We’re looking for a hands-on Senior Databricks Architect to lead the design, optimisation, and delivery of scalable lakehouse solutions supporting enterprise analytics, engineering, and AI workloads.

This is a true architect-level delivery role — ideal for someone who can define strategy while remaining deeply involved in implementation, optimisation, governance, and engineering standards across a modern Databricks ecosystem.

🔹 Key Responsibilities
• Define scalable and cost-effective Databricks architecture blueprints
• Simplify and optimise Dev, Test, and Production deployments
• Design lakehouse solutions for batch, streaming, BI, and AI workloads
• Establish data modelling, governance, and medallion architecture standards
• Drive performance tuning across Spark workloads, clusters, SQL, and pipelines
• Implement Unity Catalog governance, security, lineage, and access controls
• Provide technical leadership, code reviews, mentoring, and architectural guidance

• Strong enterprise Databricks architecture and delivery experience
• Deep expertise in Spark, PySpark, SQL, and Delta Lake
• Experience building secure, governed data platforms
• Strong background in batch + streaming pipelines and production support
• Hands-on CI/CD, Terraform, and automation experience
• Proven ability to optimise performance, scalability, and cost
• Strong stakeholder communication and technical leadership skills
